G.O.Ms.No.344, Environment & Forests Dept. dt. 8.8.1997 ------------ ORDER: In the G.O.first read above, orders were issued amending the Tamil Nadu Forest Act, 1882 omitting the Silver Oak tree from the list of Scheduled Timbers. 2) During the Collectors Conference held on 11.12.02, the necessity to prevent indiscriminate felling of Silver Oak trees was discussed in detail and it was decided to bring the silver oak tree within the ambit of Tamil Nadu Timber Transit Rules, 1968. 3) The Government have therefore decided to include the silver oak trees in the list of Scheduled Timbers. 4) The Notification appended to this order will be published in the Extraordinary issue of Tamil Nadu Government Gazette six copies of the notification are sent to the Tamil Development(Translation) Department. That Department is requested to send Tamil version of the notification to the Government Central Press for Publication. On receipt of Tamil version, the Works Manager, Government Central Press is requested to publish the Tamil version of the notification in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette. :: forwarded :: by order :: SECTION OFFICER APPENDIX NOTIFICATION In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 56-E of the Tamil Nadu Forest Act, 1882 (Tamil Nadu Act V of 1882), the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following amendment to the Schedule to the said Act:-- AMENDMENT In the Schedule to the said Act, after Item (4), the following item shall be inserted, namely :-- " (5) Silver Oak ; and " .
