FORESTS-Wildlife-Sanctuaries, Children's Park etc. - Enhancement of hire charges of Government elephants, entrance fee for vehicles and hire charges for elephant ride etc. - Orders-Issued.

2. From the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest's Ref.No.F1/ 74900/2001-3, dated 27.12.2002.

In the G.O. first read above, the entrance fee for the vehicles and for visitors for entry into Mudumalai and other Wildlife Sanctuaries, hire charges for elephant, film shooting etc. have been fixed.

2.The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests in his letter second read above, has stated that the existing rates of entrance fee, hire charges for elephants etc. have been fixed during the year 1990 and that it is felt appropriate to enhance the existing rates further. Hence he has submitted necessary proposals to enhance the existing rate of hire charges to elephants/entrance fee to the vehicles/children entering Wildlife Sanctuaries and Children's Park etc.

3.The Government after careful examination, revise the entrance fee for vehicles and for visitors for entry into Mudumalai and other Wildlife Sanctuaries, hire charges for elephant, film shooting etc. as detailed below:-

4.	Elephants hired to private parties for purpose of procession	Rs.500/- plus feeding charges of Rs.100/- per elephant per day of 6 hours or part thereof.	Rs.3000/- plus feeding charge of Rs.100/- per elephant per day of 6 hours or part thereof.
5.	(a) Elephants hired to private parties for joy rides	Rs.100/- per elephant per ride of 90 minutes	Rs.100/- per person for elephant per ride of 90 minutes.
	(b) In respect of Mudumalai Sanctuary for Joy ride.	Rs.15/- per elephant per ride of 30 minutes.	-No change- (The objective is to control tourist movements and encourage them to be on elephant's back along controlled path)

(a) In respect of all the Wildlife Sanctuaries and National Parks except Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary and Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary, an additional fee besides entrance fee shall be levied as detailed below:-

As the Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary is located outside the Reserve Forests and the land is also not belonging to Forest department, the charges in vehicles parking are collected by the respective local bodies/ Public Works Department and hence no revision is ordered.

At present, Rs.5/- per head and Rs.2/- per head for students above 5 years are levied in respect of Wildlife Sanctuaries and Rs.1/- and Rs.0.50 respectively are levied in respect of Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary as Entrance Fee. The following revision is ordered as entrance fee in respect of Wildlife and Bird Sanctuaries:-

4.The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests is requested to take action to collect the revised rates as ordered for Arignar Anna Zoological Park, Vandalur for the Guindy National Park after expiry of the present contract.

5. The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests is instructed to send proposals to Government to increase the fees at 10% for every three years.

6. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance department vide its U.O.No.2311/FS/P/2003, dated 07.07.2003.
