NOTIFICATIONS

Notification No. II(1)/CT/30(a-2)/2003

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 17 of the Tamil Nadu General Sales Tax Act, 1959 (Tamil Nadu Act 1 of 1959), the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes a reduction in the rate of tax to four percent in respect of tax payable on the sale of Tea mentioned in sub-item (v) of item 9 of Part - C of the First Schedule to the said Act, at the new auction centre "Teaserve" at Coonoor.

2. The Notification shall be deemed to have come into force on the 7^th May 2003.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (5) of section 8 of the Central Sales Tax Act, 1956 (Central Act 74 of 1956), the Governor of Tamil Nadu having satisfied that it is necessary so to do in the public interest hereby directs that the tax payable on the inter-State sale of tea at the new auction centre "Teaserve" at Coonoor be reduced to two per cent with or without Form - C.

2. The Notification shall be come into force on the 29^th May 2003.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This does not form part of the Notification but it is intended to indicate its general purporE)

Based on the announcement made by the Hon'ble Minister (Rural Industries) on 7.5.2003, the Government have issued notification under Section 17 of the Tamil Nadu General Sales Tax Act, 1959 for

"reduction in the rate of tax to four percent in respect of tax payable on the sale of Tea at the new auction centre "Teaserve" at Coonoor".

2. The Government have also issued Notification under section 8(5) of the Central Sales Tax Act, 1956 for reduction in the rate of inter-state sales tax to two percent with or without Form - C at the new auction centre "Teaserve" at Coonoor.

3. The Notification I and II are intended to achieve the above objects.
