Essential Commodities Act , 1955 (Central Act of 1955) - Edible Oils packaging (Regulation) Order, 1998 - Exemption of Edible Oils from provisions of order - Further extension of period - Orders Issued. Cooperation, Food and Consumer Protection (C1) Department

----- ORDER:
In order to examine the whole issue in implementing the Edible Oils packaging (Regulation) Order 1998, the Government, in the G.O. sixth read above, have exempted the following edible oils from the provisions of the above said order till 30.9.2000. (1) Groundnut oil (2) Palmolein Oil (3) Gingelly oil (4) Coconut oil (5) Soyabean oil (6) Sunflower oil and (7) Saffola oil 2. Now, the Oil traders have expressed some difficulties in implementing the above order. In order to examine the whole issue in detail, taking into account the difficulties experienced by the General Public as well as the oil traders, the Government have decided to exempt the above said edible oils from the provisions of the Edible Oils Packaging (Regulation) Order, 1998 for a further period of 9 months from 1.10.2000 to 30.6.2001. Accordingly, the appended Notification is issued under the proviso to clause 3 of the Edible Oils Packaging (Regulation) Order 1998, exempting the edible Oils mentioned in para 1 above, for a further period of 9 months from 1.10.2000 to 30.6.2001 from the provisions of the Edible Oils Packaging (Regulation) Order 1998. 3. The Notification appended to this order shall be published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette Extra-Ordinary, in English and in Tamil in all the District Gazettes. A Malayalam version will also be published in the District Gazette of Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and The Nilgiri 4. Six copies of the Notification are sent to Tamil Development and Culture and Religious Endowment (Tamil Translation) Department. That Department is requested to forward immediately a Tamil and Malayalam version of the Notification to the Director of Stationery and Printing, who is requested to arrange for the immediate publication in the District Gazettes concerned.
