ABSTRACT Public Distribution System – Temporary ration cards – Issue of temporary ration cards to the families who have been affected by the ‘Tsunami’ in this State – Valid for period of six months upto 30.6.2005– Orders – Issued. CO-OPERATION, FOOD AND CONSUMER PROTECTION (F2) DEPARTMENT G.O.Ms.No.380 Read: U.O.Note No.SR.II / 3082-5 / 2004, Public (SC) Department, dated 30.12.2004. ---- ORDER: It has been represented to Government that some of the families who have been affected by the Tsunami waves in the State on 26.12.2004 have lost their family cards. The families who have lost their family cards will not be able to draw the Essential Commodities under the Public Distribution System and they will also not be eligible to receive other benefits provided by the Government. The Government have therefore decided to issue temporary ration cards to those families who have lost their cards due to the Tsunami disaster. These cards shall be valid for a period of six months or till the affected families are issued with new cards under the normal programme of family card distribution whichever is earlier. The Commissioner of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection is requested to make necessary arrangements in consultation with the District Collectors to issue temporary family cards at the relief camps organized by the District Collectors, as many of these families will not be in a position to go over to the Taluk Office/Assistant Commissioner’s office in Chennai City.
