ORDER:

In the Government order 1st read above, the Government have issued orders constituting the Tamil Nadu State Hajj Committee with 16 members nominated by Government as per section 18 (1) of the Hajj Committee Act, 2002 (Central Act 35 of 2002), with effect from 27.6.2003.    The term of office of the said Committee was for a period of 3 years.   The tenure of the said Committee expired on 26.6.2006.

2.  Consequent on this, the Executive Officer, Tamil Nadu State Hajj Committee in his letters 2nd read above has sent detailed proposals to Government for the nomination of persons representing different categories as prescribed in the said Act, 2002 and requested the Government to re-constitute the State Hajj Committee.

3.  The Government have carefully examined the above proposal and accordingly decided to re-constitute the State Hajj Committee and nominate the following persons as Members of the Tamil Nadu State Hajj Committee under sub -section (1) of Section 18 of the said Act:-

1. 1.  Thiru  Alhaj Nawab Mohammed  Abdul  Ali, 
        Prince of Arcot.
2. 2.  Thiru J.M. Aaron Rashid,
        Member of Parliament.
3. 3.  Thiru H. Abdul Basith,
        Member of Legislative Assembly.
4. 4.  Thiru Hassan Ali,
        Member of Legislative Assembly.
5. 5.  Thiru S.A. H. Basheer Ahmed,
        Chairman, Keelakarai Municipality.
6. 6.  Thiru S.K.K. Hakeem,
        Vice Chairman, Palani Municipality. 
7. 7.  Thiru Sulaiman Basha,
        President,  Ammapettai Panchayat Union.
8. 8.  Thiru Ghulam Mohammed Mehdi Khan,

4.    The term of Office of the State Hajj Committee shall be three years, commencing   on the day following the publication of the list of Members and the allowances payable to, and the other terms and Conditions of the Chairperson and Members shall be such as may be prescribed as per section 20 (2) of the said Act.   After the publication of the names of members of the State Hajj Committee, the first meeting  of the Committee shall be convened  within 45 days  at which the State Hajj Committee, shall elect a Chairperson from amongst its Members as per section 21 (1) of the  Hajj Committee Act, 2002 ( Central Act 35 of 2002).

5. The rules regarding Hajj Committee Act, 2002 (Central Act 35 of 2002) shall be issued separately.

6.  The Notification appended to this order will be published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette Extra-ordinary dated the 20.11.2006.
