ORDER:  

The Government in their Orders first to third read above have notified the appointment of the following members of Tamil Nadu Wakf Board as per section 14 of the Wakf Act, 1995

(Central Act 43 of 1995):

2.Consequent on the death of Ghulam Ahamed Askari, Chief Khazi and Dr.S.Dastagir and due to the Government nominee Thiru Syed Munir Hoda, I.A.S., not holding office, the Government in the G.O. fourth read above notified the appointment of the following members:

3.      Thiru Mohamed Aslam, I.A.S.,

3 .Tmt.Bader Sayeed, Chairperson, Tamil Nadu Wakf Board resigned from the post of Chairperson and Member of the Board and the same was accepted by the Government in the Order fifth read above.  Subsequently, in the reference eighth to 16^th read above, the following members of the Tamil Nadu Wakf Board have also tendered their resignation:

The Government after careful consideration hereby accept the resignation of aforesaid nine members of the Tamil Nadu Wakf Board.  The said Members,  however shall continue in Office of the Tamil Nadu Wakf Board as per section 19 of the Wakf Act, 1995 (Central Act 43 of 1995) till their successors are appointed by the Government.

4. The term of Office of the Wakf Board Members is for five years and the tenure of the present Board will expire by 03.01.2007.  Consequent on the resignation of the Chairperson and nine members of the Wakf Board, the Board cannot function with the remaining members for want of quorum.  The Government have therefore decided to reconstitute the Board in toto. 

5.  The Government  have  examined  the  issue of  filling up  of the  vacancies  in  each category in  greater detail.   In exercise of powers  conferred by section 14  (I)  (b) (c) (d) and (e)  of the Wakf Act,  1995 (Central Act 43 of  1995 ),   the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby  nominate  the following  persons as  members of the  Tamil  Nadu Wakf Board in the  categories   of Member of Parliament,  Member of Legislative Assembly,  Representation of  Eminent  Muslim  Organisation, Recognised  Scholars  in Islamic Theology and   an Officer  of the  State Government  as  Government Nominee ;

Member of Legislative Assembly:

6 . The  two vacancies  have  arisen  in the  Bar Council category. These vacancies  will be filled up  by notifying and  conducting election   as per  sub-section  (2) of  section 14 of the  Wakf Act , 1995   ( Central Act  43 of 1995) .

7. The two vacancies of  member of  Tamil Nadu Wakf Board  arisen  under  Muthawalli category will be  filled up by  notifying  and  conducting the  election as per sub-section  (2)  of section 14  of the Wakf Act,  1995  ( Central Act  43 of  1995)

  8. The following  Notification  will be  published  in an  Extra ordinary  issue of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette dated    17.11.2006.
