Abstract

ORDER:

The Tsunami (Giant Tidal Waves) which struck the Tamil Nadu Coast on 26.12.2004 has caused vast devastination in the Coastal Districts. The Fishermen in the Coastal Districts have lost their boats and fishing implements due to Tsunami.

2) In the Government Order second read above, the Government sanctioned an immediate package of assistance at a total cost of Rs. 65.00 Crore from the State Calamity Fund in order to support them and to enable them to eke out their livelihood immediately. The above amount released by Special Commissioner and Commissioner of Revenue Administration has been reallotted and released to the Regional Joint Director of Fisheries /Deputy Director of Fisheries for disbursement of the amount on the basis of the assessment of damages to the fishing implements due to Tsunami.

3) In the letter third read above, the Director of Fisheries has requested to give permission to open and maintain Personal Deposit Account in the name of 12 Assistant Directors/Deputy Directors in the respective main branches of the State Bank of India in their headquarters as a special case.

4) The Government after careful examination accept the proposal of the Director of Fisheries and give permission to each of the following Assistant Director of Fisheries (Marine) / Deputy Director of Fisheries (Regional) to open and maintain Personal Deposit account in their name in the respective main branches of the State Bank of India in their headquarters as a special case as follows:
