dated 26.2.2004 ORDER: The Census on Livestock, Poultry, Fisheries etc are being carried out once in five years. Therefore the Government of India have conveyed the administrative approval for the implementation of the 17th Quinquennial Livestock Census Scheme for TamilNadu to be implemented by Animal Husbandry Department. 2. The main objective of conducting the census is collection of data on Livestock and poultry population along with age, sex, composition etc, and agricultural implements, fishing implements and other machineries. This work would cover the entire rural and urban areas of TamilNadu on complete enumeration basis. The responsibility of conducting the 17th Quinquennial Livestock Census rests with State Government. The Commissioner and Director of Veterinary Services will coordinate, guide, scrutinize, compile and process the data and publish the results. 3. In the Government Order Ist read above, the Government have approved the conduct of Centrally Sponsored Scheme of 17th Quinquennial Livestock Census in TamilNadu . In the Government Order 2nd read, the Government have ordered that the Census work would commence on the 20th August 2004 and would be completed by the 15th September 2004 without fail. For this purpose the District Collectors have been nominated as District Livestock Census Officers in respect of their Districts and the concerned Commissioner as Livestock Census Officer in respect of their jurisdiction. The District Collectors were permitted to appoint enumerators and supervisors for the work. The Commissioner and Director of Veterinary Services was also directed to arrange to give training to the Enumerators and Supervisors. The Government have also ordered the formation of District Level Committees in all the Districts under the chairmanship of the District Collectors with the Joint Directors of Animal Husbandry as Member – Convener , Deputy Director of Fisheries or Assistant Director of Fisheries and Joint Director of Agriculture and Assistant Director of Agricultural Engineering as Members. 4.The Commissioner and Director of Veterinary Services has also sent proposal for the setting up of a State Level Committee for the smooth conduct of the census. The Government after careful examination accept the proposal of the Commissioner and Director of Veterinary Services and order the formation of a State Level Committee with the following officials for the smooth conduct of Census:-
