            In the letter first read above, the Commissioner & Director of Fisheries  has stated that the fishermen of Chunnambukulam (Periakuppam) in  Gummudipoondi Assembly Constituency in Tiruvallur District are representing frequently for providing leading channel and berthing facilities in Pulicat lake opposite their village  for safeguarding their boats from natural calamities etc.  There are 70 boats in Chunnambukulam village.  At present the boats are being berthed in Pulicat lake and the catches are being brought to the villages / marketing centers by means of other transport facilities.  If the leading channel is provided then the fishermen will be able to bring their boats near the village and marketing center and also anchor their boats in their leading channel and thereby avoid damages etc. due to natural calamities.  The Commissioner & Director of Fisheries therefore request the Government to sanction a sum of Rs.5.88 lakhs for providing leading channel and berthing facilities at Chunnambukulam (Periakuppam village) in Tiruvallur District.

 2.         The Government after careful examination have decided to accept  the proposal of the Commissioner and Director of Fisheries under Part II Scheme for the year 2001-2002.  Accordingly, the Government  sanction a sum of Rs. 5.88 lakhs (Rupees Five lakhs eighty eight thousand only) for providing leading channel and berthing facilities at Chunnambukulam (Periakuppam) village in Tiruvallur District.  The work will be executed by the Fishing Harbour Project Division after observing all formalities. 

 3.         The expenditure shall be debited to 

“4405. Capital Outlay on Fisheries – 104. Fishing Harbour and landing facilities – Schemes in the Ninth Five Year Plan – II. State Plan JB. Scheme to open up river mouth in fishing areas / harbours – 16. major works (DPC No. 4405.00.104.JB.1609)

 4.           This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its .U.O. Note No. 66988/AH&F/2001, dated 20.9.2001.
