No.136 Read: G.O.(Ms) No.138, Animal Husbandry & Fisheries, dated 29.8.2000. ORDER: In the G.O. read above, the Government constituted a State Level Co-Ordination Committee under the Chairmanship of Secretary, Animal Husbandry & Fisheries Department with the following members, to enforce the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 in the State:- Chairman :: Secretary to Government, Animal Husbandry & Fisheries Department. Member Secretary :: Commissioner & Director of Veterinary Services, Chennai.6. Members :: 1. Inspector General of Police (Law & Order) Office of the Director General of Police, Chennai.4. 2. Commissioner of Chennai Corporation. 3 Joint Commissioner, Commercial Taxes, Chennai. 4..Deputy Secretary to Government, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Dept., 5.Secretary, Animal Welfare Board of India, Chennai. 6. Secretary. Blue Cross of India, Chennai. 7. Secretary, Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Chennai. 2. During the second State Level Co-ordination Committee meeting held at 3.30 P.M. on 8.10.2004, under the Chairmanship of Secretary to Government, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Department, it was decided to include the officials/persons from the following Departments as members of the State Level Co-ordination Committee for the enforcement of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960.
3. Accordingly the Government direct that the State Level Co-Ordination Committee already constituted to oversee the enforcement of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960, be reconstituted with the following members. Chairman :: Secretary to Government, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Department. Member Secretary :: Commissioner and Director of Veterinary Services, Chennai.6. Members :: 1. Inspector General of Police (Law & Order), Office of the Director General of Police, Chennai-4. 2. Commissioner of Chennai Corporation or his nominee. 3.Commissioner, Commercial Taxes, Chennai, or his nominee. 4. The Commissioner of Transport,. or his nominee 5. Commissioner for Municipal Administration, or his nominee. 6.Director of Rural Development, or his nominee. 7. Joint Secretary/Deputy Secretary(Animal Husbandry) to Government, Animal Husbandry & Fisheries Department. 8. Secretary, Animal Welfare Board of India, Chennai. 9. Secretary , Blue Cross of India, Chennai. 10. Secretary, Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Chennai. 11. Trustee and Secretary, 'Peoples for Animals' Chennai. 4.The above committee will review enforcement of legal provision relating to Prevention of Cruelties to Animals, with reference to PCA Act, 1960.
