ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND FISHERIES(fs3) DEPARTMENT G.O.MS.NO.102 Read: From the Director of Fisheries, Lr.No.22754/R3/2003 Dt.13.5.2003 and dt.27.5.2003. … ORDER: Marketing of hygienic fish is gaining importance. The fresh fish generally spoils quickly between 1 to 8 hours after their catch at atmospheric temperature and hence it has to be cooked and consumed of processed and stored within 8 hours. Failure to keep fish cool immediately after harvesting will accentuate spoilage at a later stage in its distribution. The major chunk of the fish harvested is sold in the landing centre and nearby areas in unhygienic condition by the road side vendors, not only making the consumers reluctant to buy but also gives minimum returns to the producers and the small traders. Selling of fish by the retail vendors in open without proper icing will lead to quick spoilage and health hazards to the ultimate consumers. 2) In order to educate the small vendors about the quality conscious on the fish sold and to develop suitable fish marketing infrastructures, The Director of Fisheries has sent the proposals for supply of 250 units of insulated containers with display facilities for hygienic marketing of fish to the road side vendors to the tune of Rs.10.00 lakhs. 3) The Government after careful examination, approve the proposal of Director of Fisheries for purchase of 250 insulated containers with display facilities under |Part II Scheme for the year 2003-2004 at a total cost of Rs.10.00 lakhs with the following pattern of assistance:- Subsidy for Government 50% - Rs.5.00 lakhs Beneficiary Contribution 25%
-Rs.5.00 lakhs 4) Sanction is accorded to the Director of Fisheries to incur an expenditure of Rs.5.00 lakhs (Rupees five lakhs only) towards the purchase of 250 units of insulated containers with display facilities for hygienic marketing of fish to the road side vendors under Part II Scheme for the year 2003-2004. 5) The Director of Fisheries is requested to identify the genuine beneficiaries and send the list to the Tamil Nadu State Apex Fisheries Cooperative Federation for implementation of the scheme through TAFCOFED. 6) The Director of Fisheries is hereby authorized to draw the amount sanctioned in para 4 above and disburse the same to Tamil Nadu State Apex Fisheries Cooperative Federation Limited. 7) The expenditure sanctioned in para 3 above shall be debited to the following head of account. “2405-00-Fisheries-800-Other expenditure-Schemes in X th Five year Plan – II State Plan- JN assistance to fishermen for the purchase of Hygienic containers 19-Machinery and Equipments 01-Purchase.
