ORDER:

In the Government Order 1st read above, Government have sanctioned the continuance of the scheme for implementation of the Biological control of Pests on Oilseeds and Coconut from 1-4-2006 to 21-3-2007 at a cost of Rs.0.51 lakhs. Now the Commissioner of Agriculture in his letter 2nd and 4th read above, has sent a proposal for continuance of the scheme on Biological control of Pests on Oilseeds and Coconut at a cost of Rs.11.21 lakhs only from 1-4-2007 to 31-3-2008 excluding staff component. He has stated that hitherto the scheme is implemented as on going scheme based on the budget provision every year.

2. Under the State Oilseed Schemes, Biological control of Pests on Oilseeds and Coconut is being implemented a ongoing State Scheme based on the budget provision every year. This scheme envisages the production and distribution of Nuclear Polyhedrosis virus for control of pests on Oilseeds ( Red Hairy Caterpillar / Prodenia ) and green muscardine fungus for the control of pests on Coconut (Rhinoceros beetle). The inputs will be issued to the Farmers to conduct demonstrations to know the effect of the bio-control agents by the neighbouring farmers also to adopt using bioagents instead of chemical pesticides. This will help to reduce the pesticide load/poison on the product and to protect air, water and soil from pollution. During the year 2007-2008 the following targets are proposed in the four centers of NPV production and two centers of green Muscardine fungus Production. The Commissioner of Agriculture has proposed to cover an area of 1000 hectares producing a quantity of 250 liters of NPV and also proposed to distribution 55000 Nos. of GMF tubes at a cost of Rs.11.21 lakhs during 2007-08 as detailed below and requested the Government to accord sanction for implementation of the scheme during 2007-08.

3. Government have carefully examined the above proposal and accord to sanction for implementation of the Scheme on Biological control of Pests on Oilseeds and Coconut at a cost Rs.11.21 lakhs (Rupees Eleven lakhs and twenty one thousand only ) from 1/4/2007 to 31/3/2008 as detailed below.

4.The expenditure sanctioned in para 3 above shall be debited to:-

" 2401-00-Crop Husbandry – Plant Protection-107 AG Scheme for Biological Control of Pests in Oilseeds and Coconut and Seedlings (DPC Code No.2401-00-107- A.G )"

5.The Director of Agriculture is requested to send necessary progress report under the scheme to Government every month.

6.The Director of Agriculture is authorized to draw and disburse the amount sanctioned in para 3 above.

7. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No.37867 / Fin.(Agriculture) / 2007 dated 7-7-2007.
