ORDER

In the G.O. first read above, sanction was accorded for the continuance of the scheme " Integrated Coconut Development Programme" during the year 2006-07 at a total cost of Rs.139.14 lakhs.

2. The Commissioner of Agriculture in his letter second read above has informed that Coconut being a high value crop and is capable of giving high returns from an unit area, promotion of this crop would help in creating a strong base to establish Coconut Industries. Hence it becomes necessary to improve the area under Coconut by supply of quality seedlings to the Coconut growers that are produced by the departmental Coconut nurseries. During 2007-08 apart from Tall, Tall X Dwarf, it is proposed to produce Dwarf X Tall Coconut Seedlings to meet out the demand of the Coconut growers. In view of these benefits it becomes necessary to continue the programme as a non plan scheme during 2007-08.

3.The Commissioner of Agriculture has therefore requested the Government to sanction the continuance of the scheme "Integrated Coconut Development Programme" at a cost of Rs.180.00 lakhs during 2007-08 as a non plan scheme as detailed below:-

The Government after careful examination accord sanction for a sum of Rs.139.94 lakhs (One crore thirty nine lakhs and ninety four thousand only) for the continuance of the State Scheme "Integrated Coconut Development Programme", during the year 2007-08 as a non –Plan scheme as detailed in Annexure I and II to this order.

5. The Director of Agriculture is requested to ensure that the scheme is implemented on a profit no loss basis and is also requested to ensure that the receipt and expenditure are balanced.

6. The expenditure sanctioned in para 4 above shall be debited to the following head of account:-

7. The receipts under the scheme shall be credited under the following heads of account.

For Hybrids (Tall X Dwarf and Dwarf X Tall)

For Tall variety and other receipts

8. The Director of Agriculture is authorized to draw and disburse the expenditure sanctioned in para 4 above and directed to send the quarterly progress reports in respect of each scheme indicating physical and financial achievements including the receipts accrued, to Government in Agriculture /Finance Departments.

9. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No.44643/Agri/07 dated 11.7.2007.
