 ORDER:

             A Comprehensive Crop Insurance Scheme was being implemented in this State under the administrative control of the Department of Cooperation, Food and Consumer Protection till the 1999-2000 Rabi season.  The Government of India, in its letter first read above, has withdrawn the said scheme and in lieu thereof, introduced a new scheme called "National Agricultural Insurance Scheme" from 1999-2000 Rabi season.  In the letter second read above, the Government of India have issued administrative approval and also prescribed guidelines for the implementation of the new scheme.  In the letter third read above, consent for participation by Tamil Nadu in the new scheme was also communicated to the Government of india.  In the Government order fourth read above, a State Level Coordination Committee on Crop Insurance was formed under the Chairmanship of Secretary, Agriculture Department for monitoring the implementation of the new scheme.  In the letter fifth read above, the Government of India hve issued administrative approval for implementation of the new scheme during 2000-2001.  Thus, the National Agricultural Insurance Scheme is being implemented in this State from 1999-2000 Rabi season.

 

            2. The Government have examined the proposal for implementation of the new "National Agricultural Insurance Scheme" introduced by the Government of India in Tamil Nadu from 1999-2000 Rabi and accordingly issue the following orders:-

  1. (1)             Administrative approval is hereby accorded for the implementation of the new "National Agricultural Insurance scheme"  introduced by the Government of India. in this State from 1999-2000 Rabi season and during 2000-2001 and

 

  1. (2)             The new scheme will be implemented as per the guidelines of the Government of India.

           3. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No.2296/FS(P)/2000 Dated: 18.7.2000.
