Information Technology Department – Nomination of Nodal Officer for liaison with Department of Telecommunications, Government of India and the Universal Service Obligation Fund  for purpose of extending Telecommunication facilities including broad band in the State – Orders – Issued.

ORDER:

In the D.O. letter read above, the Secretary, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Department of Information Telecommunications, Government of India has informed that the Universal Service Obligation Fund has been set up by amending Indian Telegraph Act 1885 to provide Telecommunication facilities in the rural and remote areas of the country and a new scheme to provide infrastructure support for taking mobile telephony to rural and remote areas is to be started shortly.  A broadband connectivity proposal is also under the consideration of the Ministry.  The Secretary, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Government of India has requested to nominate Secretary, Information Technology Department as the Nodal officer.

2. The Government nominate the Secretary to Government, Information Technology Department as Nodal Officer for liaison with the Department of Telecommunication, Government of India and the Universal Services Obligation Fund for the purpose of extending telecommunication facilities including broadband in the State.
