ORDER:
In the letter read above, the Managing Director, ELCOT has stated that the lands for Information Technology (IT) Parks in Tier-II cities of Tamil Nadu such as Madurai, Tirunelveli, Salem, Tiruchirappalli and Coimbatore are located outside the city limits or in the peripheral area of the city limits and that there is no infrastructure such as roads, adequate power supply, water facility and telecom facility and that to commission these IT Parks without much loss of time, it is essential that there should be a High Power Committee to supervise the infrastructure creation in these IT Parks. The Government have already sanctioned a sum of Rs.30 crores for creation of infrastructure within these IT Parks through Assistance to states for Infrastructure Development for Exports (ASIDE) funding. The IT Parks in Tier-II cities require a decent access road from the nearby township area and also nearby habitations. Plan for providing adequate water supply to the IT Park area is to be made. The capacity of the power sub-station has to be augmented to provide adequate and quality power supply, preferably from dual grid is to be planned. Hence the Managing Director, ELCOT has requested the Government to appoint a High Power Committee headed by the Chief Secretary to Government to supervise the infrastructure creation in the IT Parks that are being commissioned by ELCOT.
2. After careful consideration, the Government accept the proposal of Managing Director, ELCOT in paragraph one above. Accordingly the Government constitute a High Power Committee with the following members:-
