2. In the letter first read above, The Director, Tamil Virtual University has stated that Tamil Virtual University has hosted a large number of lessons at Certificate Level and Degree Level. It also has a rich Digital Library in Tamil Literature, Technical Glossaries and Cultural Video Gallery. But this information is not known to many Tamils abroad as well as within India. In order to promote and popularise Tamil, on-line advertisements and notification in popular magazines and news papers are necessary. The efforts taken and the funds spent on this proposal would make the people know that the programme is useful to them. The Director, Tamil Virtual University has therefore requested the Government to sanction a sum of Rs.10.00 lakhs under Part-II Scheme 2006-07 to Tamil Virtual University for Promoting and Popularising Tamil Virtual University.
