ORDER :

All the offices of the Tamil Nadu Government including those in the Districts have been provided with Computers and these have been connected with network for exchange of Information concerning the affairs of the State, some of which deal with sensitive matters. User profiles have been created for the end users, senior officers and administrators, defining the roles and responsibilities. There is a need to protect the Information, computers, Computer Systems, network systems from being accessed by unauthorised persons. Therefore, the Government have decided to declare all the computers, computer systems and the computer networks including all the Uniform Resource Locators in the Government Offices/ Government undertakings/Boards of the State of Tamil Nadu to be a "protected system", under sub- section (1) of section 70 of the Information Technology Act, 2000 (Central Act 21 of 2000)

2. Accordingly, the following notification will be published in an Extraordinary issue of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, dated the 29th June 2005.

NOTIFICATION

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub- section (1) of section 70 of the Information Technology Act, 2000 (Central Act 21 of 2000), the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby declares that any computer, computer system (Hardware, Software and Accessories), website, online service or computer network including the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) in any of the Offices of the Government of Tamil Nadu or of the Government Undertakings or Boards to be a " protected system" except for the purpose of viewing and downloading the online web pages approved and published by the Government of Tamil Nadu or by the Government Undertakings or Boards or by the Government approved agency and replying to e-mail or updating an online response page.

3. A copy of this order shall also be made available on the Internet which can be accessed at the address http://www.tn.gov.in
