ORDER:

As per the announcements made by Hon’ble Minister (L,IT&E) in the Assembly during the year 2003-04 Government will take suitable efforts to show case Tier III towns  as Destinations for Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) investments.

2.  Tamil Nadu is considered to be one of the leading States in the field of Information Technology. Chennai has already carved a niche for itself in this sector. Now the Government is keen to develop other cities in the State with the objective of dispersing IT prosperity as an economic imperative. Hosur is fully poised to become the next IT Township of the State and the Government is  all out to market this hidden treasure.

3. In this regard ELCOT has sent a proposal for appointing a Consultant to do a Market Assessment Study of Hosur as a preferred destination of Knowledge industry and the need for the proposed IT Park of International standards. The consultancy charges to study the possibilities, potential and for preparing the feasibility report will be about Rs. 4.00 Lakhs.

4. After careful examination, Government accept the recommendation of ELCOT to appoint a  consultant  to carry out the detailed feasibility  study for setting up a Software Technology Park at Hosur as per procedure . Government also sanction a sum of  Rs.4.00 lakhs (Rupees Four lakhs only) being the charges for the consultancy , which may be met out from the funds already sanctioned to ELCOT in the G.O first read above.

5. This order is issued with the concurrence of the Finance Department vide its U.O.No.4148/FS/P/03, dated 15.12.2003.
