ORDER:
In a message to the investors in the "IT Policy of Tamil Nadu 2002", Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has stated that the State's strongest attractions "are the availability of world-class global high bandwidth connectivity and a Government that is proactive and supportive of the development of enterprise and initiative ……….. It is now our goal to propel the State to the "Number One" position in the next three years, in terms of IT exports. "
Against this background, Tamil Nadu has emerged as a preferred destination for IT and ITES investments. In order to promote the participation and encourage SMEs to be able to access International markets and use such business platforms for increased opportunities.
The IT Policy of Tamil Nadu 2002 states that :
“Government of Tamil Nadu will also facilitate the participation of SME's in Government approved International / National IT trade shows and exhibitions so as to enable them to tap new markets. A 30 % subsidy will be allowed in respect of the stall rent payable by the participating SME units with turnover not exceeding Rs. 10 Crores in the preceding year.”
In furtherance of this Policy initiative, a proposal has been received from ELCOT vide reference second cited for approval of designated International and National Events for eligibility of subsidy for Small & Medium Enterprises in IT.
Based on the above, Government approves the following 7 International and 4 National Exhibitions for participation of SMEs during 2003-04 for which they will be entitled subsidy of 30% on stall charges.
