Information Technology-Coimbatore IT Park - Constitution of District Executive Committee to oversee the further Development of Coimbatore IT Park - Orders issued.

The Government have initiated steps to focus on developing Tier II locations for Information Technology Enabled Service (ITES) business opportunities as a sequel to the IT policy 2002. ELCOT and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) have identified ITES as a thrust area for growth in this region. ELCOT in association with CII has undertaken a study to explore the feasibility of setting up an IT park in Coimbatore which is the largest expanding Tier II location after Chennai. The study establishes the viability of the project with guidance note and recommends promotion of Coimbatore as the Destination of Choice for ITES business.

2. In the Government orders first and second read above, Govt. have alienated 29.08 acres of land belonging to Coimbatore Medical College in favour of ELCOT for the development of Coimbatore IT Park.

3. In the letter third read above the District Collector, Coimbatore has suggested that formation of District Executive Committee will be useful for the promotion of IT Park in Coimbatore and therefore has sent a list of members, comprising both officials and non-officials, in consultation with CII, Coimbatore.

4. Accordingly, Government constitute a District Executive Committee to oversee the further Development of the Coimbatore IT Park with the following officials and non-officials:-
