ORDER:

          The State Task Force for Information Technology and its Sub-Committee on Tamil in Information Technology constituted in the G.Os first and second read above and reconstituted in the G.Os third and fourth read above stand disbanded with immediate effect.

 2.       The Government have now decided to set up: -

 (a)      A state level “Tamil Nadu Information Technology Council” (TNITC) to be chaired by the Hon’ble Chief Minister and having representatives from the Government, Industry and academia.

(b)       An Executive Committee of the “Tamil Nadu Information Technology Council” to be headed by Chief Secretary, comprising of selected representatives from the Tamil Nadu Information Technology Council.

3.       The composition of the Tamil Nadu Information Technology Council shall be as follows:-

4.       The Executive Committee headed by the Chief Secretary shall comprise the following:-

                Chairman, CII, Tamil Nadu State Council
                Director, IITM
                Vice Chairman, TANSCHE

5.       The TN IT Council will meet periodically to review the progress of IT in the State and give policy directions. The Tamil Nadu IT Council and its Executive Committee shall have the liberty of inviting any other relevant expert from Government, Industry and the academia world to their meeting(s), depending on the agenda items in the meeting and the nature of expertise required for these items.  Working groups as required to address specific issue(s), may also be constituted from time to time.

 6.       The Executive Committee will meet regularly to review developments in specific areas like infrastructure, telecommunications, IT in Government, content localization etc.  This Committee will also look after the other non-technical responsibilities of the erstwhile Sub-committee of State IT Task Force.

7.       All the technical aspects of tamil in IT  looked after by the erstwhile Sub-committee of the State Information Technology  Task Force shall stand entrusted to the Tamil Virtual University.
