EMPLOYMENT A Special Employment Cell is functioning in each District Office of Ex-Servicemen’s Welfare. Ex-Servicemen desirous of getting employment are registered trade / qualification-wise in the Cell and are sponsored for the Reserved vacancies in Government/ Public Undertakings. Secondary Registrations are also done in the District Employment Exchanges by forwarding the duplicate registration cards to them and the Secondary card registration numbers obtained, to sponsor Ex-Servicemen for unreserved vacancies also. SPONSORING TO PRIVATE EMPLOYERS: Ex-Service Officers and men qualified in various fields/ trades with vast experience are available for re-employment. The lists are available at district offices. Their names are sponsored on request. An Employment News bulletin is broadcast through All India Radio, Chennai both at short wave and on medium wave on every Saturday at 1840 hours to disseminate various vacancies / concessions meant for Ex-Servicemen and families. (G.O.Ms.No.1019, Home (Police-4) Department, dated:19.6.1992) To protect the valuables in temples, Ex-Servicemen are employed as Special Police Officers in the ‘Temple Protection Force’ on consolidated salary basis. As per G.O.Ms.No.1125, Home (Police-XIV) Department, dt:13.11.2001, Rs.1,500/- is being paid as monthly consolidated salary. Large number of Ex-Servicemen are mobilised and deployed in Bandobust duties to assist the Police during Elections to Lok Sabha / Assembly / Local Bodies with remuneration. COMPASSIONATE APPOINTMENT: CENTRAL GOVERNMENT: (Letter No. 14014/6/86-Estt(D), dated:30.6.87) Compassionate appointment upto two dependants of Service Personnel killed/ disabled in action and to one dependant of Service personnel killed/ disabled in peacetime. STATE GOVERNMENT: (G.O.Ms.No.1218 Public (Ex-Servicemen) Dept. dated:3.9.99) Compassionate appointment to one dependant of Service Personnel killed / disabled in action or died in harness. PRIORITY FOR DEPENDANTS: (G.O.Ms.No.1161 Personnel & Administrative Reforms Department, dated: 22.11.84) Priority is accorded to one dependant of Ex-Servicemen in the matter of employment through Employment Exchanges. For this purpose, Priority Certificate is issued by the District Offices of Ex-Servicemen’s Welfare, provided, the priority has not been availed by ex-Serviceman himself.
