Jayankondam Town Panchayat (Trichirappalli District)

  

Rajendra I, a mighty Chola King, established his new capital here with the magnificient city and temple to Lord Siva. This is noted for its massiveness and richly carved sculptures including dancing Ganesha, a Lion-headed well and a stunning frieze depicting Rajendra being renowned by Siva and Parvati.
