OUR COMPANY

Tamil Nadu Salt Corporation Limited was set up during the year 1974 by the Government of Tamil Nadu with a view to exploit the potential available for the production of Salt and Salt based by-products.  Keeping in view of the need to generate employment opportunities and to give an impetus to the Development of backward areas of Ramanathapuram District, it was decided to produce Salt in the coastal area where the Industrial Development or the Agricultural Operation could not produce sustainable employment.

OUR BUSINESS

Tamil Nadu Salt Corporation Limited at present is manufacturing Industrial Grade Salt and other Fortified Salts viz., Iron Fortified Salt and Iodised 'Arasu' Salt.

To be the market leader in the manufacture of quality salt both Industrial and Edible Salt.

• 1. Promote the usage of Iodised 'Arasu' Salt mainly to cater to the needs of lower segment of people in our State.

1. We are committed to satisfy Industrial Customers with emphasis on quality viz., meeting the customer's requirement/specification at competitive prices

• 1. Tamil Nadu Salt Corporation is continuously producing and supplying Iron Fortified Salt to Noon Meal Centres run by Government of Tamil Nadu since 1991 through TNCSC which is an important step taken by TNSC in tackling the Iron Deficiency Anemia.
• 1. Tamil Nadu Salt Corporation is also now manufacturing Iodised Salt under the brand name of IODISED 'ARASU' SALT by its own high quality common salt having Sodium Chloride content over 98% and maintain the Iodine level of 30 ppm and 15 ppm at manufacturing and retailing ends. Tamil Nadu Salt Corporation Limited is distributing its Iodised 'Arasu' Salt through Fair Price Shops run both by TNCSC & Co-operatives at the MRP rate of Rs.2.50/Kg throughout Tamil Nadu.  This has facilitated universal availability of Iodised Salt at most affordable price for a common man in rural district and hilly areas throughout the State.

• 1. To follow all norms of financial propriety and ensure that the company continues to give proper returns to the Government of Tamil Nadu on the investment made.

BUSINESS TRANSACTED

During 2001-2002, the Company's Sales Turnover has reached Rs.10.07 crores (Highest achievement since inception) a growth of 54.67% over the previous year.  Likewise the net profit earned after tax during 2001-2002 was Rs.42.70 lakhs, a growth of 53.82% over the previous year.
