TAMIL NADU POULTRY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION LIMITED   CHENNAI

This Corporation was established with intention to improve the quality of the Poultry in Tamil Nadu with a total capital of Rs.100 lakhs on 12th July 1973. The Capital now with TAPCO is Rs. 126.69 lakhs.

OBJECTIVES OF TAPCO:

* Regulating the poultry Development by improving its capacity to produce more number of eggs and increased quality of meat.

* To help the poultry breeders in Poultry Development.

* To provide all the inputs for poultry development and Marketing.

* To help the Poultry breeders with transport facilities, distribution, import and export.

TAPCO AS ON DATE :

HATCHERIES

* Two hatcheries one for layer chicks, and another for broiler chicks are functioning at Kappalur in Madurai   District and Azasur in Coimbatore District respectively.

* These hatcheries produce quality chicks for increased production of eggs and meat respectively.

FEED MIXING UNIT:

* To provide quality feed to the parent stock and poultry Extension counters the Feed Mixing Unit, is functioning at koppolur.

* A Feed Mixing Unit at Tiruppur would be recommissioned shortly to meat the demand of Poultry breeders in quality feed.

ANALYTICAL LAB:

* An Analytical Lab is functioning at Feed Mixing Unit, Kappalur for assessing the quality of feed produced.

* This lab checks up the queries from public and other institutions for analyzing the feed, material as the case may be by remitting reasonable fees.

* Poultry breeders and farmers can get the formula of manufacturing quality poultry feed by obtaining a computerized copy of the formula for which a nominal faces of Rs.50/- is charged.

MARKETING UNITS:

* There are six marketing units functioning under Tapco. they are

1. Marketing Unit, Nandanam

2. Marketing Unit, Namakkal

3. Marketing Unit, Salem

4. Marketing Unit, Trichy

5. Marketing Unit, Coimbatore

6. Marketing Unit, Madurai.

* The consumers (Viz.) the public can draw their requirement of eggs, meat broiler chicken etc., from these units for a reasonable price suitable to the pockets at any time at their requirements.

* The eggs, meat, broiler chicken available in these units are of standard any hygienic quality.

* Public can buy their chicks, broilers from these units.

* Public can get the technological advise for keeping, poultry in their backyard and Farm from these units.

GROWER FARMS:

* There are three Grower farms functioning under Tapco. They are:

1. Vembakkan (Chingleput District)

2. Thekkupalayam (Coimbatore District)

3. Perundurai (Erode District)

* These firms are maintained as a piece of model farm and meat the demand of the public in and around the farm for their technology know. These farms maintained broilers.

* Broiler chicks can be purchased from these farms.

* Technical know. can be obtained from the technical people working in these farms.

INFORMATION SYSTEM:

* In formations with regard to poultry keeping, economics in poultry keeping etc., are published in a form of booklet under the following names.

1. KOZHI VALARPPU VAZHIKATTI

2. PROJECT REPORTS

* The above information system is functioning in all the units of rapco.

* Poultry breeders can have these booklets at a cost of Rs.10/- for Kozhi Valarppu Vazhikatti and Rs. 25/- for project report.

NON MEAL SCHEME:

* Tapco has taken up the job of supplying eggs under Noon Meal Scheme to all the Noon Meal centres in Tamil Nadu with effect from 1.6.97.

This project costs rs.20 crores and about 1.5 crores of eggs distributed per month all over the State.

MARKETING INFORMATIONS:

* PUblic may approach Tapco for establishing a booth under Tapco banner.

* For which rent and royalty has to be paid to Tapco.

* Accordingly royalty is also levied under four categories namely

* The public can establish booths in all the districts approaching the Tapco at Central Office or at Unit office.
