FORENSIC SCIENCES DEPARTMENT

1.The Forensic Sciences Department of Tamil Nadu provides facilities for analyzing material evidences    collected as clues in all criminal and civil cases in which the Tamil Nadu State is a party. 2. Applications for analysis are acceptable free of cost when received from the Police Department, Presiding Officers of Criminal Courts, the High Court, Madras, Prohibition and Excise Department and suspected poison cases from Government Medical and Veterinary Institutions.

3. Requests for analysis from other departments of the State Government, Undertakings of State     Government,  Municipal Corporations and other local bodies, Universities of Tamil Nadu, private hospitals in Tamil Nadu, licensees directed to send samples by the office of the Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise, Central Government, their Undertakings, other State Governments, and from the High Court or from other [Criminal/Civil] Courts in cases where the Government of Tamil Nadu is not a party, are entertained on payment of the fees mentioned below.

4. Applications from classes not mentioned in Para 3 will also be accepted provided they are not detrimental  to the routine work 

5. The fees chargeable and other terms for entertaining the examinations mentioned in paras 3 & 4 can be ascertained

6. Forensic Sciences Department functions through the Main laboratory at Chennai with 15 divisions, 9 Regional Laboratories, 32 Mobile Laboratories in the head quarters of Police Districts and one Mobile 24 Hrs. Laboratory at Chennai.
