Adopting a child is not only a highly emotional decision but it is a lifelong bond, which on one hand provides an affectionate and loving family to the child and on the other hand fulfils the desire of parenthood on part of the adoptive couples.

For all of us who are involved in the process of facilitating adoption of children it is an experience which words cannot describe.  We have found immense happiness and satisfaction on getting ourselves involved in the process of adoption of children.  Every time a child finds a home or a couple yearning for a child finally take a child home, we feel privileged to share their joy and contentment.

On our part we have been striving not only to promote adoption but also to simplify the entire process of adoption.  Our efforts are directed towards bringing the adoption on the priority of the department of Social Welfare.  We are also taking steps to recognize atleast one good non governmental organization to do adoption, in every district of Tamil Nadu.  This will help the people of those districts as they need not come to Chennai for adopting a child.

We have nominated the district social welfare officers, as nodal officers for adoption.  Collectors of all the districts have also been sensitised about adoption.  We inspect the placement agencies regularly to monitor their performance.

Bringing adoption on internet is the first step in the direction of making the entire process of adoption transparent, and to demystify the myths and confusion surrounding adoption.  We will be glad to have the feedback to improve the website and we anxiously look forward to hear from you.
